The anti-science think tank Heartland Institute has billboards comparing climate science believers and reporters to “mass murderers and madmen” like bin Laden, and the Unabomber.
Seriously!
Andrew Sullivan weighs in and calls this “a brutalist style of public propaganda that focuses entirely on guilt by the most extreme association.”
… what the fuck.
I know there is bad science and big money on both sides of this debate. Both sides are wrong. Both sides are right. But fearmongering like this is NOT a debate, in fact it is a surrender, because one side has stopped using logic and conversation and they have started using fear. I would note, at the same time, that both sides have been using MORE fear than SCIENCE for a very long time, and this billboard is simply an ESCALATION of the fear they are trying to generate.
Consume. Fear. Conform.
